Hi, I'm Talvi (she/her)

I make little faces out of mud.

Talvi Ekis is a ceramic artist based in central Vermont, known for her playful, animated and often edgy style, and commitment to queer representation and diversity in the world of functional art. Working primarily in clay, Talvi creates vibrant, character-driven pieces that blend whimsy with purpose, inviting users to see everyday objects as both expressive and inclusive.

Her work often features bold forms, bright colors, and emotive figures, drawing inspiration from cartoon aesthetics and storytelling traditions. In addition to celebrating queer identity, and diversity among the human experience, Talvi’s work also explores emotional diversity—giving space to feelings often deemed shameful or ‘bad’ such as anger, grief, or defiance. By honoring the full spectrum of human emotion, her ceramics invite honest connection and create room for complexity within joy, and acceptance of the whole.

About the artist

Talvi has shared her work in numerous craft fairs and festivals throughout Vermont and New England. These joyful events have helped cultivate a growing following for her one-of-a-kind creations that celebrate individuality and the human experience.

Whether it’s a mug with a mischievous face, or a bowl that feels like it belongs in a cartoon, Talvi’s playful yet functional pieces bring storytelling and inclusivity to the table—literally.

What I care about

The small print, but nice

✿

Kind first

To customers, to other makers, to the clay. If something goes wrong, we'll figure it out together.

♥

Every body

Faces of every skin tone, age, gender expression and vibe. If you don't see yourself yet, tell me. I'll make you.

Small on purpose

One person, one kiln, made slowly in central Vermont.
